I downloaded an ebook from NetLibrary and listened to it on my computer. Soon I will listen to an ebook from Overdrive on the MP3 player Santa brings me.

The Digital Social Scene

I now belong to My Space and Facebook, with completely new identities. These social networking sites are not for me -- And that goes for Eons, too. I do, however, like Library Thing which will perhaps be used by SPL.

Note: All social networking sites are banned in the Niles Township high schools.

Podcasting

With The Library Success Wiki, I found and subscribed to Charlotte and Mecklenburg's Library Loft podcasts with news, programs, and commentary created by and for teens. The 10 Things @ SPL is modeled after the Public Library of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County's 2.0 program for their staff--only I think all finishing staff recieved an MP3 player.I also subscribed to podcasts of two great radio programs: WGN's Extension 720 with Milt Rosenberg and This is Hell,broadcast live on WNUR, Northwestern University's radio station.

I found an email from CAA dated August 4, 2006 in which she says she was surprised that Flickr was being used for Library photos, instead of putting them on our our own website. Has our philosophy changed?

Huh? What's RSS?

Okay, so I had an idea of what RSS feeds are but never used them and certainly didn't know RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. It was simple to use Google Reader to add RSS feeds from Colbert Nation (of course), BBC News, NPR, and Google's "Fun" feed bundle. Now I have an RSS feed on this blog, too!

It's About Time!
